Our quest for the most compelling and unique Pinot Noir vineyards led us to the celebrated Bien Nacido Vineyard. Fruit from this site was so beautiful that we were convinced to make our first single vineyard wine from a non-estate vineyard.
Bien Nacido has been the source of countless exceptional Pinot Noirs and is home to some exceedingly rare own-rooted plantings. We were able to source from several hillside blocks as well as from the renowned Block N, one of the original 1972 plantings of the Martini clone.
