5 Fun Facts About Twomey
Here are a few things you might not know about Twomey. Test your knowledge—and perhaps learn something new!
Twomey is more than a winery. It’s also a family name!
The Duncan family chose the name Twomey in honor of the family matriarch, Velma Marie Twomey Duncan—grandmother to our Proprietors (and brothers!) David R. Duncan and Tim Duncan.
Twomey is also the middle name of a couple Duncan family members, including David and Tim’s father (and co-founder of Silver Oak), Raymond Duncan, and David’s son, Connor.
Before releasing our first vintage of Pinot Noir, we considered calling it “Velma, Pinot Noir.”
We are committed to crafting beautiful wines that express unique sites, even if it means trying a different varietal.
We once made a Syrah.
We crushed our first vintage of Pinot Noir at the Silver Oak Napa Valley Winery in Oakville.
What is Sauvignon? We were featured as an answer on Jeopardy! in 2013.
We’ve heard many ways of saying “Twomey,” but the correct pronunciation is “Two-me.”
